What is IPO GMP (Grey Market Premium)?

IPO GMP, or Grey Market Premium, is the price at which IPO shares trade unofficially in the grey market before they are listed on the stock exchange. A positive GMP indicates investors expect listing gains, while a negative GMP signals an expected discount. GMP is indicative only and not investment advice.

How can I check IPO allotment status?

IPO allotment status can be checked on the registrar's website (such as Link Intime or KFin Technologies) or on the BSE/NSE websites using your PAN, application number, or DP/Client ID after the allotment date. IPO Plus lists each IPO's allotment date and registrar.

What is the difference between a mainboard IPO and an SME IPO?

A mainboard IPO is for larger companies listing on the main NSE/BSE platforms with broad retail participation, while an SME IPO is for small and medium enterprises listing on the NSE Emerge or BSE SME platforms, typically with larger lot sizes and higher minimum investment.

What are pre-IPO or unlisted shares?

Pre-IPO or unlisted shares are equity shares of companies that are not yet listed on a stock exchange. Investors can buy them before the company's IPO, usually requiring a PAN and demat account. Examples include NSE, Tata Capital and other companies expected to launch an IPO in the future.
